Prevalence Of Plasmodium In Parts Of North Central Nigeria
The prevalence of Plasmodium in parts of North Central of Nigeria was carried out in selected hospitals in Benue, Nasarawa, Niger states and FCT. A total of 1000 samples were analysed out of which 545 (54.50%) were from females and 455 (45.50%) were from males. A total of 241 patients were positive using microscopy giving a prevalence rate of 24.10% across the states with 95% confidence interval of 27.10 to 33.70%. The prevalence rate for the states are as follows, Nasarawa 91(36.40%), Niger 81(32.40%), Benue 52 (20.80%) and FCT 17 (6.80%).
