Socio Economic And Environmental Predictors For Urinary Schistosomiasis Among School Children In Anguwan-dodo, Gwagwalada
Introduction: After the discovery of schistosomiasis by Theodore Bilharzin 1851, it was not until 1908 when the first case was reported in Nigeria. The first mapped out control project for schistosomiasis in Nigeria was in 1965 with major endemicity in the South relative to other parts of the country. Virtually all previously studied locations were poor rural communities that lack access to safe portable water, have poor sanitation and were located near rivers, streams, and or water development projects such as dams and irrigation sites which contribute the most important risk factors in the transmission of schistosomiasis.
