The Effects Of Malaria On Some Haematological Parameters Among Pregnant Women Attending Antenatal Clinic At The Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos, Nigeria
A study of the effects of malaria on some haematological parameters among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital Jos, Nigeria, was carried out for four months. Blood samples were collected and examined for malaria using thin film stained with giemsa and haematological parameters which included Packed Cell Volume (PCV), White Blood Cell Count (WBC) and Genotype were also recorded. Out of the 165 pregnant women examined, 89 (53.94%) were infected with malaria parasites. Highest infection 41 (77.36 %) was recorded among the primigravidae followed by 19 (59.38%), in pregnant women in their secundigravidae, and 29(36.25%) in multigravidae. Download
