This paper presents the historical growth of teacher education in Ghana and the various attempts made to
ensure that societal demands are met as far as teacher supply and effectiveness are concerned. Since the
colonial period, teacher education has received the desired attention. This attention is seen in the manner in which teacher education has been changing both in structure and content.
