Project performance at the county levels has faced numerous problems in Kenya due to lack/inadequate public participation. This study investigates the influence of public participation on project performance in Nyeri County. The specific objective of the study was: to determine the influence of county leadership on project performance. The study is guided by legitimacy theory. The respondents were both the officials of the County Government of Nyeri, MCAs and residents who have taken part in public participation exercise.
