Assessment Of Technical Performance Of A Small Wind System In Naivasha, Kenya
Kenya experiences an average wind speed of 3-5 m/s which could provide an opportunity for harnessing wind energy. However, the rate of uptake of the technology especially the small wind turbines have remained relatively low despite the massive potential the country holds. Small wind systems have found their way into the Kenyan market, but the technical performance data of different systems and models are still not readily available. Using a small wind turbine system- 0.9 kW, the wind speeds and corresponding power output were measured, and data was analysed to assess the technical performance.
