Islamic Religion And The Management And Resolution Of Mental Illness In Ghana
Religion play very critical role in healing many illnesses in many societies especially mental illness. One important decision people make using religion has to do with good health. The aim of this study was to examine the role of the Islamic religion in the management and resolution of mental illness among the indigenous societies in Ghana. The study further examined how religious healers cared for the mentally challenged people in the provision of medication, attention and accommodation. The study was informed by the qualitative research design. Purposive and snow ball sampling were the techniques used for the selection of 32 interviewees using in-depth and key informant interviews.
