Community perception provides decision makers information useful to define forest policies and strategies. Globally, there is a long tradition of concern about household welfare and forest dependence. Investigating the level of community perception in forest management can best be done through Participatory appraisal of the community involved. Perceptions and perspectives of forestry sector stakeholders are assessed using a survey methodology based on questionnaires and cognitive maps (Paletto et al., 2014). The potential benefits of forest product gathering includes but not limited to, the daily subsistence and survival of the rural inhabitants, income redistribution and poverty reduction. Download
