Effect Of Soil Fungal Population On Yield And Yeild Componenents Of Cocoyams In Rivers And Bayelsa States, Nigeria
The Incidence of Cocoyam root rot complex in three zones within Rivers and Bayelsa States namely, Coastal plain sands (Igbo and Baen), Warri Sombreic Deltaic plain (Obrikom and Ahoada) and Meander Belt (Agudama and Kaiama) was studied. The following micro-organisms of rot of the roots and corms (Cocoyam Decline Disease) were isolated. From Igbo, Aspergillus niger, Mucor Sp., Penicilium Sp., Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Sclerotium rolfsii; were isolated. Aspergillus niger, Mucor Sp., Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium, Rhizopus stolonifer, Fusarium sp., were isolated from Baen soils.
