Performance Of Two Of Pedotransfer Functions (ptf) For Estimating Soil Sorptivity
A comparison of empirical sorptivity values with the ones generated from Pedotransfer functions (Rawls and Brook-Corey) was carried out in this study. The study area was restricted to department of Agricultural Engineering experimental plot, Samaru, Zaria. The double ring infiltrometer was used to obtain the cumulative infiltration of the soil at six points. The results of statistical analysis at p < 0.01 showed that there is no significant difference between the sorptivity factor from the Philip’s model and the one estimated by Rawls PTF but there was a high significant difference between the sorptivity factor from the Philip’s model and the one estimated by Brooks-Corey PTF.
