Nigeria is among under developed countries which are facing unprecedented growth of cities. Most significant challenge with the growing urban population is to maintain a sustainable living environment. Solid waste management is the foremost requirement among them. Nigeria in general and the study area, Damaturu (capital of Yobe State) in particular, show the failure of local municipal bodies in this regard.
