Natural Forest Reserves In The Northern Region Of Ghana: Description And Management Status
This paper examines and describes the natural forest reserves in the Northern Region of Ghana. It discusses forest reservation in the region and gives a detail description of all the natural forest reserves. The primary data was collected using in-depth interview and secondary data from the records of Forest Service Division (FSD) in the Region. Respondents comprised forest managers, guards and a retired forester in the region. The study found 17 natural forest reserves in the region. Management activities involved boundary maintenance and protection and plantation development. Management plans are either outdated or not available. There is the need to develop new management plans
