Influence Of Social-cultural Factors On Students Wastage Levels In Public Secondary Schools In Nyandarua County, Kenya
Wastage in Kenya’s secondary schools has been a major concern to education stakeholders since it leads to great loss of scarce resources allocated by the government to this level of education. For example, Statistics from Nyandarua West and Central sub counties show that wastage levels for the 2008 cohorts stood at 19% for boys and 24% for girls. Studies have shown that school participation can be affected by factors such as cultural traditions, cultural customs, attitudes and beliefs and the social and economic status of parents.
