This study examines the effect of drought on food production in Asego Division of Homabay County within the Lake Victoria basin. Most of the inhabitants in the lowlands have more flood related adaptation mechanisms relative to those of drought that is becoming more frequent due to climate change. The main objective of the study examined the effect of drought on food production in Asego Division. Specific objective determined drought occurrence in the Division. The study provides knowledge and understanding of rainfall patterns for prediction of drought patterns in the region. Purposive sampling was used to get the study area, Mbita weather station and key informants.
