Detection Of Escherichia Coli O157 And Non-o157 Serogroups From Water And Cattle Meat Samples In Uyo, South-south Nigeria
Background: Escherichia coli O157 and non-O157 infection are one of the major emerging public health problems in many parts of the world.
Aim: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of both Escherichia coli O157 and non-O157 serogroups in meat and water samples in Uyo, Nigeria.
Study Design: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study.
Place and Duration of Study: Meat samples were collected from Ibaku Abattoir, while water samples (ponds, rivers, and run-offs) used for both domestic and irrigational purposes were collected from various sites within Uyo city from June to August 2014.
