Natural Frequency Analysis Of A Box-type Structure Using Ritz Method With Polynomial Shape Functions

This research work is aimed at analyzing the vibration associated with a box-type structure using Ritz Method with polynomial shape function. The purpose is to determine the fundamental frequency. The study assumed the same boundary conditions used by Onwuka and Nwachukwu (2012) and formulated a handy expression, for determining the natural frequency of a box structure. The results of the numerical study carried out with the formulated expression shows that the fundamental natural frequency result of the present study differ slightly with that obtained from the works of Lin and Pan (2009), and Onwuka and Nwachukwu (2012) at the plate thickness of 0.0025m.This slight difference can be negl
