The cost of education is a major determinant of students’ enrolment and participation in secondary schools. Studies carried in Kenya have shown that school fees lay a heavy financial burden on both parents and the government. Despite the continuous rise in demand for secondary schools in Kenya, some children are still unable to access secondary schools due to the cost burden involved.
