The Degree Of Specialization And Diversification (dsd) Of Non-traditional Export Sector In Ghana
The study aimed to investigate the Degree of Specialization and Diversification (DSD) within the non-traditional export sector in Ghana. The Herfindhal and Entropy Indexes were adopted to determine the degree of specialization and diversification in the sector and establish the market share of various sub-sectors. The non-traditional export sector is highly specialized with processed and semi-processed as the dominant and well developed sub-sector. The sub-sector posed an overwhelming percent of market share whiles agriculture and handicraft sub-sectors see continues decline since the inception of the policy of export diversification in the mid-1980s.
