Compliance Of Meat Handlers In Abia And Imo States Of Nigeria With Haccp–based Standard Operating Procedures Checklist
Several studies have reported non-compliance to international meat safety guidelines by meat handlers in Nigeria, but none has conducted a study on any named guideline such as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) based Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Checklist. This study set out to assess the compliance of meat handlers in Abia and Imo States of Nigeria with the HACCP-based SOP checklist. This was a cross-sectional study in which 417meat handlers were randomly selected from eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Abia State and six LGAs in Imo State, and the checklist was administered to them by trained interviewers.
