Production Of Bioethanol From Agrowaste Biomass Using Saccharomyces Cerevisae
The study aimed to produce biofuel (bioethanol) from agrowaste biomass using Saccharomyces cerevisae. Fruit peels of banana, orange, plantain and pineapple were used for bioethanol production following standard hydrolysis, fermentation and distillation methods. Sugar content of each fruit peel, growth rate of S. cerevisae, enzyme present, enzyme activity and production of bioethanol were estimated using standard methods. The results showed that sugar content was highest, 5.28 %, in pineapple peel and least, 1.94 %, in orange peel. Considerable increase in growth of S. cerevisae with days was noticed over the period of incubation in all the fruit peels. The enzyme produced by S. cerevisae in
