Bacteriological Assessment Of Raw Groundnut Seeds Vended In Port Harcourt Metropolis, Rivers State, Nigeria
Bacteriological assessment of wholesome and unwholesome raw groundnut seeds sold in Port Harcourt metropolis of Nigeria was carried out in Department of Microbiology and Environmental biology (Microbiology Laboratory in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using standard microbiological methods. The bacterial count ranged significantly (P>0.05) from 0 to 8×105 cfu/ml and 2×105 to 1.0×106 cfu/ml for wholesome and unwholesome respectively. For large seeds, the count ranged from 0 to 8×105 cfu/ml for wholesome and 2×105 to 1.0×106 cfu/ml for unwholesome; for small seeds it ranged from 0 to 2×105cfu/ml for wholesome and 2×105 to 9×105 cfu/ml for unwholesome.
