Evaluation Of Four Rapid Diagnostic Tests (rdts) Under Different Temperature Regimens
The four test kits – CareStart, SD Bioline, Global device and LabAcon- were incubated for 90 days at various temperature ranges: 2-8°C, 25°C, 37°C, 45°C and 55°C, and tested with both low (200parasites/µl) and high (2000 parasites/µl) parasitaemia panels. The control and test bands were measured at various parasitaemia levels. The four kits were found to be heat stable at all temperature ranges tested both at low parasitaemia (200 parasites/µl) and at high parasitaemia (2000 parasites/µl). At high temperature (55°C) and low parasitaemia, however, there was reduction in intensity of control and test bands. SD Bioline and LabAcon were found to be more heat stable and Ca
