The paper reviews the various models which have been used to assess the impact of urbanization on stream channel morphology namely: channel evolution models, geomorphic threshold, equilibrium theory, regime theory and in recent years Digital elevation models (DEMS) among others. Although, various approaches\\\' have been used to characterize the different models, the assessment of the representative approaches indicates that each of the postulated model appear to simulate field observation under specific sets of urbanization and environmental conditions.
