The study was designed to develop, validate an instrument and use it to investigate the main and interaction effects of age and content area on students achievement in chemistry. Two research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. A sample of 500 SS1 students randomly selected from 10 purposively selected schools were used. The researcher developed instrument, chemistry Achievement Test (CAT1) was used to obtain data. Mean statistics was used to answer research questions while a 2x3 ANOVA statistics was used to test the hypotheses.
