Retarding Effect Of Sisal Juice Extract On Strength Development Of Cement Concrete
The rate of concrete strength development is of significant importance when concreting under certain conditions. High rates of strength development may be undesirable in conditions such as hot weather and during concreting of large structures such as dams walls and large foundation. In order to extend the setting time of cement and hence reduce the rate of strength development of associated concrete, retarding admixture may be used during mixing of concrete. This paper examines the effectiveness of sisal juice extract as a retarding admixture in controlling the rate of strength gain in cement concrete.
