Evaluating The Use Of The Mass Media And The Value Of Indigenous Communication On Climate Change In Nigeria
Climate change is currently a burning issue throughout the world. The effect of climate change is felt across continents. The mass media and indigenous communication have been said to have significant roles to play. This paper considers the global media challenges and challenges peculiar to African journalists on the issue of climate change. An evaluation of the roles of the mass media is done and it was discovered that lately, the mass media, print media to be specific, has improved in the frequency of their report on climate change. However, awareness on the causes of climate change, mitigation and adaptation is still low among the majority of local community people in Nigeria.
