In the Nigerian health system, a house officer is a newly graduated medical doctor undergoing clinical rotations in the four major core specialties. During this period, they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge required for the task of specialization. Among house officers, studies have shown that various factors play a role in the choice of specialties. The aim of this study is to determine the most preferred specialty and factors that influence the choice of medical specialties among house officers in the South-South Nigeria. It is a multi-center cross-sectional study carried out in the six states of the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria.
