Bacteriological Quality Assessment Of Herbal Remedies For Typhoid And Malarial Fevers Sold In Makurdi, Benue State
The widespread use of liquid herbal mixtures as alternative medicine in Benue State has raised concerns regarding their bacteriological quality. To help address these concerns, this study assessed the presence, levels and types of bacteria in various commercial herbal mixtures, formulated for treatment of typhoid and malaria fevers in Makurdi metropolis, Benue State. Using standard bacteriological techniques, 64 samples purchased from four herbal drugs vendors of Makurdi located at High Level, Modern Market, North Bank, Wadata and Wurukum were analysed.
